English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at CAC

CAC’s EFL class will provide non-native speakers with a strong foundation to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English. This course will incorporate cross-cultural understanding in addition to grammar. Students will receive various homework assignments and will be assigned a conversation partner to help nurture speaking skills.

Our instructor Robert (“Bob”) Cable, has over 30 years of EFL teaching experience in various regions of the world including, the U.S., Latin America and the Middle East.

There will be an orientation and assessment day on Wednesday, April 6th, 2011 at 10am-11am. We encourage all individuals regardless of their level of English to attend!

Classes will begin on April 8th, 2011.

“Inta Wa Ana” You & Me Arabic Immersion

Whether you are a Mom, Dad, caregiver or an educator, the child you care for can benefit immensely from exposure to a foreign language. Our “Mommy & Me” groups use play, music and crafts to expose children to the Arabic language!

4/23: A Rift in Time: Travels with My Ottoman Uncle by Raja Shehadeh

CAC is honored to welcome the acclaimed author Raja Shehadeh, whose works include: A Rift in Time: Travels with my Ottoman Uncle, When the Bulbul Stopped Singing and Palestinian Walks, which won the Orwell Prize in 2007. In addition to Raja Shehahed’s accomplished literary career he is a lawyer, dedicated human rights activist and founder of Al-Haq, a human rights NGO. His latest accomplishment is to rank among the world’s 500 most influential Arabs.

Raja Shehaded will be reading from his latest book, A Rift in Time: Travels with my Ottoman Uncle and signed copies will be available for purchase.
